The Kirchner Family// Wildberry Farm & Market Maternity Session

ree

I love maternity sessions. I know first-hand that pregnancy can leave you feeling less than glamorous, but there is such raw, beautiful strength in each and every mama-to-be. I love being invited into this precious season by couples and getting to capture all the sweet, tender emotions shared by parents eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new little one.

I also love family sessions. Especially ones with toddlers involved. Toddlers are often the wild-card in a session and I've come to expect that we're going to get the full span of little "sour patch" personalities during a shoot... but without fail, the session is always filled with giggles, shenanigans, songs and probably bubbles.

The Kirchner family met me at Wildberry Farm & Market a few weeks ago for the best of these two worlds- a sweet family/maternity session to capture this season as they prepare to welcome a new little one later this fall. Jess and I have known each other since high school, and she and Jim were my first ever engagement session (God bless them and their trust in me when I was still figuring out how to work my first "real" camera...). It was so sweet getting to catch up with them and meet their toddler, who had me belly laughing with his escape-artist antics and adorable silly faces. I also love that kids his age are super fascinated by how the camera works... and can be easily bribed into posing if you promise to show them their photo immediately afterwards :-)

Even though we just missed the last of the summer blooming wildflowers, we still had a gorgeous evening with plenty of gorgeous golden-hour lighting. As excited as I am for the rapidly approaching fall (hello, mini-sessions and sweatshirt-weather...), it was nice to hang on to summer for just a little while longer during this session.
